F.A.Q

Who can do yoga?

Anyone can do yoga: whether you are muscular, stiff, stressed, flexible, happy, depressed, dynamic, anxious, in a hurry, tired, shy ... yoga is for you.

There are different styles of yoga, more or less gentle, more or less dynamic, adapted to each one.

Within Joya Yoga Montreal, Yoga adapts to the student and not the student to yoga.

Our team is at your disposal to guide you towards the style that suits you, according to your needs, your desires and your constraints.

Little by little by our side, you will learn to build a practice intended to always find more balance.

What should I plan for my first session?

Yoga is practiced barefoot.

Just plan your carpet, a small space in a room in your house.

Plan to wear light, flexible and comfortable, leaving you free to move.

In addition to this, you will need to know more about it.

What happens during a session?

Our yoga classes last 60 to 75 minutes,

A session is generally structured in three stages:

- a sequence of postures, more or less dynamic depending on the style of the class, to wake up the joints and warm the body. Each posture prepares for the next.

- postures to open the body in depth and slow down the breath.

- a final phase of relaxation.

Variants will be offered depending on the possibilities and limitations of each. Each student is encouraged to work at their own pace and to listen to their feelings in the postures.

Which “yoga” should I start with?

If you are new to yoga and have never practiced yoga before, opt for a Hatha Flow class that allows you to hold the poses longer in order to know your alignment, take the time to combine breath with movement. This style of Yoga allows more frequent corrections considering the less sustained pace.

If you have a regular practice and want to deepen your practice, Vinyasa is dynamic and energizing, it will allow you to surpass yourself.

A Yin yoga allows to cut these practices by a practice more in introspection and a deep stretching with postures held between 3 and 5 minutes.
